I've regularly used Dow Scrubbing Bubbles on my shower. While it never bothered me too much, I thought that product had strong fumes and probably wasn't safe for my health. So I switched to Seventh Generation Shower Cleaner.
How shocked was I when the first time I used it I felt burning in my nose and the back of my throat. I spent the next hour coughing. And no, I DIDN'T inhale any of the mist. This product DEFINITELY has fumes and smells awful. That was a week ago.
Hoping it was a fluke (giving the product the benefit of the doubt, I hypothesized that it had released toxic chemicals that had built up in my shower), I tried the product again this evening. SAME result. That was about 45 minutes ago, and I'm still trying to clear the irritation in my nose and throat.

I am allergic to scented products and it is difficult to find any products with no scent. This whitens my showers and leaves them looking clean. I have been using this product for awhile and I think it does a satisfactory job. It cleans the dishes well and leaves no smell in my plastics, including my daughter's plastic plates and cups. I stopped using Cascade when I realized that you could actually taste the chemicals on the plastic. Cascade does do a better job cleaning. It should. It, like every other widely available commercial brand, is a very strong base (alkaline), very caustic. Their phosphates are detrimental to marine life. And now many contain bleach. More dioxins, please! The Seventh Generation version does not clean my silverware as well. If anything is stuck-on before washing it remains there (especially egg or almond butter). My solution to this is pretty easy and obvious. We just keep a bus tub in the sink with a small amount of water. Dirty utensils go there. Dishes get the same treatment if necessary. Sometimes (not often) there is a powdery white residue on the dishes which is easy to remove. Overall, I am pleased with this product and its shortcomings are not enough to make me switch back. I've been replacing most of my household cleaning products with 7th generation brands. I have only had good experiences with them and this product is no different.
I've been using the kitchen cleaner now for several months. I've cleaned my worktops, tiles, fridge and chopping board with it. They all look clean as it removes grime and dirt but I was wondering how good the ingredients were at kiiling germs. I googled the chemicals and found that one of ingredients, Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2)is a powerful environmentally friendly disinfectant and is stronger than chlorine.
The Hydrogen peroxide chemical oxidises micro-organisms and essentially burns them. It breaks down into water and oxygen and poses no environmental threat. Other big name cleaners cause chlorine gas and toxic chemicals to enter the environment.
I think that the 7th gen. company should promote this more on their bottles as I believe the bathroom and all purpose cleaners also contain the same ingredients.

This laundry detergent is the best I have found. It lacks the petroleum so often found in other detergents, therefore making the clothes smell better and feel better. You can really feel the difference when comparing the feel of this powder to other powders: the others leave your fingers feeling greasy. I have found that I do not need to use as much of this as with other products, and the price on Amazon is the best I have found yet - especially with the Super Saver Shipping! After finding that my son and I both were developing rashes to other types of laundry products (including so-called allergen-free), I switched to the scent-free version of this product which I learned about while working as a nanny years ago. I love this stuff! It frequently goes on sale at a local natural foods coop. It actually gets out stuff that I thought were permanent stains, and I've even used it successfully on fabrics. Though it is marketed as a glass & surface cleaner, it can be used as a general cleaner. I also use white distilled vinegar per equal parts water along with a baking soda paste for effective, eco-friendly cleaning. But unlike vinegar, there is no accompanying, lingering smell.

I purchased this product in my attempts to be more environmentally conscious, and I am very pleased with it. The Lavender Floral & Mint scent is heavenly! You need to use more soap than you do with conventional dish soaps to get your dishes clean, but the bottle still lasts a very long time. This is such a great product. I find that it cleans better than a lot of other chemically induced products on the market.
